Bark for the Cure...
This morning, Geoff,Trixie and I went to support the Bark for the Cure which was taking place at the mall. It was a part of the Race for the Cure but for doggies. We were told there were close to 900 dogs signed up. What a great turnout and support for such a great cause! There were a ton of people there and at the start line they played the song " who let the dogs out"...!!
Trixie had a super time on her first 'walk'. She got herself a lot of treats and even a cute pink scarf to wear for the day! What a great morning!
Through the eyes and voice of Trixie Sherman:
"Daddy takes good care of me and a tight leash since there are so many other doggies here today! When is this race going to start???....."

Arkansas Baby Shower!
Today all the teachers that I work with threw me a baby shower after our last professional development day. After three hours of class, we went to my favorite Mexican Restaurant called Abuelos to celebrate. We had a super time with great conversation and my favorite queso dip in all of Northwest Arkansas:) I am so thankful for all the gifts and many blessings for Baby Sherman. She sure is a very lucky girl. Here are a few pictures to document the day:

A closet full of clothes and she will not be here for another 3 1/2 months. Yikes mommy got a little over excited!
Our new chair and chair cushsion... Meme did a great job on it!
Her crib with the crib bumper... just trying it on for size:)
Baby Sherman's Changing Table and almost dresser..
Our view from the backyard... right on the golf course...
The eat-in kitchen area with daddy working hard on his fantasy baseball website...

Over Easter weekend, we officially moved to our new house and we are so thankful!
We want to say thanks to all the help from our friends Andy and Louis as well as my parents because with their help we got ourselves moved in just a little over 6 hours. We are now pretty much settled and enjoying all the new space and our wonderful location. I especially like the location because it is a one minute drive to the new mall, Target, the highway, and lots of yummy restaurants. I am now a lot closer to my office in Farmington which had been a 40 minute commute and is now only 25 minutes. Daddy is a little further away from his office but it still only takes him 12 minutes, which isn't too bad at all and he can still drive his scooter on nice sunny days which was one of the criteria of finding a new place:)
I, of course, was most excited about getting Baby Sherman's room started. Meme and Papa made that happen by bringing us the crib from Springfield and a glider. My sister had saved both for us and we are excited to be using them. They have been through our two wonderful nephews, Justin and Jack, which makes it even more special that baby Sherman gets to use them now!
Papa started the weekend by assembling the new changing table, and next up was the dresser but unfortunately we realized it was missing some very important pieces so he had to stop that project. We (i.e. me) are now anxiously awaiting the parts to come in the mail so that daddy can finish.
In addition, Meme worked on changing the glider cushion to a chocolate brown. It started as a blue so we changed it to match our color scheme of light pink and white gingham and a distressed chocolate brown!
We still have much to do in the baby's room but we still have plenty of time left before she gets here! I can't wait to get it all done and looking great!

It happened.......
Now you are probably reading on because I have sparked your curiousity as to what could have happened in the booming metropolis of Northwest Arkansas today? Well, as I was shopping at Wal-Mart on my lunch break, I stumbled upon some clearance baby clothes that were $2 and $3 each. Now normally I would not shop for clothes at Wal-Mart only because I have discovered you can get things cheaper and higher quality at other stores. However, you have to shop when you hit a clearance sale or as I like to say, "when you hit the jackpot" so I picked up several outfits that Baby Sherman can wear while we are in Florida this December/ January with my family over New Year's. She needed some warm weather clothes in size 3-6 months and I thought today I should take advantage of the low prices of Wal-Mart(wouldn't daddy be proud):)
While I was browsing the greeting cards afterward, a woman stopped and made a comment about how cute the dresses were and I told her they were a bargain too:) She then asked me " are you having a little girl?". WOW! The first stranger to notice or at least the first brave one to acknowledge my growing belly which was not just overeating the 50% off Easter peeps I got 10 minutes before at Walgreen's(yes I am still eating these little sugary delights).
Now most would not get so excited over this 'noticing' or 'growing' but for me it was milestone in my pregnacy! Mark it down April 15th, 2009, currently 6 months pregnant and for the first time ever in my life I could answer with a huge smile "yes, I am pregnant and having a girl".

6 months pregnant!
Today we went in for my 23 week appointment and Geoff got to meet the doctor for the first time. The appointment was a routine appointment so we had the normal blood pressure check, weight check, heartbeat check and the opportunity to have any questions answered. My blood pressure was good. I had gained a healthy 4 pounds in the last 4 1/2 weeks and our little girl's heart rate was in the 160s. All in all everything looked good. This appointment was the first one where they began to measure my belly and it was measuring right on track for 23 weeks. The doctor also confirmed that at this point in the pregnancy the baby's weight was right about 1 pound and in the next 5 weeks will gain another 1 1/2 . Wow that is a whole lot of growing and I can expect her to be around 2 1/2 pounds at my next appointment.
The doctor also went over the ultrasound results with us and confirmed that we are indeed having a little girl. I had to ask him how sure he was that it was a girl in there because I had a lot of pink clothes in the closet already and he said that with boys they are usually never wrong, but 1 or 2 times a year they can be wrong with a girl. Those are pretty good odds so I am going with girl:) ! We will have another ultrasound at 30 weeks and he said he will confirm again for us to put my mind at ease. He also said she was measuring for a due date of August 7th but that is was so close to the original August 10th date that they would not change it. He said that if we did an ultrasound every week the date would probably change every time. Close enough and I said I would be overjoyed if she came earlier rather than later so no worries!
Next appointment is scheduled for May 11th and I will be right at 27 weeks and will be going in for my glucose test for gestational diabetes....

THERE'S A WHOLE LOT OF MOVING GOING ON!
There sure is a lot of moving going on in the Sherman household as of lately. Not only are we in the process of moving to our new home, but baby Sherman has been moving and shaking.
We are anxiously awaiting my parents visit later today. They are making the 7 hour drive to help with our move on Saturday. Geoff and I have been moving small stuff and boxes for about a week now and we are pretty much left with all the big things and we need some big ole muscles for that and not my weak ones. I also love to remind Geoff that I am pregnant and can't lift a thing:)
We will officially be in our new house on Saturday and cannot wait! We are moving on up like those Jefferson's.... and Trixie, daddy and I are excited. Geoff took one look into Baby Sherman's closet the other day in the new house and just about fell over. He could not believe the sea of pink and ALL the goodies she has already. We will be asking her Papa this week to assemble all her new furniture and her Meme to sew a new cushion cover for her rocker. Her room will be done in chocolate brown and pink and white gingham. I am sure that she will have the best looking room in the house!
My belly is sure getting big and I will post a new picture very soon. I am right at 22 1/2 weeks and I look very pregnant at times depending on what I wearing. I still haven't had any brave 'outsiders' ask me when I am due? I think no one wants to ask and hear the answer " I'm not pregnant". It is better to be safe and keep your thoughts to yourself I guess when it comes to this kind of thing:)
Baby Sherman sure has been moving around like crazy too. You can now look at my belly and see it bounce up and down when she is busy at play. Truly amazing! She was up bouncing around for about an hour last night before we headed to bed and her kicks were strong.
Well that is about it... I will write more next week.....I have my next doctors appoitment on Monday the 13th so I will update then!

We have found a daycare for baby Sherman!
We have been searching in the last month or so for a daycare for baby Sherman when mommy goes back to work. I am blessed that my work is allowing me to take off August-January 1st but I had no idea how far in advance you have to inquire about daycare these days (I guess that is a first time mommy for you) . One of the places I talked to told me that she could get me on the waiting list and I can expect to have my child into the facility by the time she is age 2 or 3. Are you kidding me? Is this the country club of all daycares?
Geoff and I have discussed all the options for her including a nanny and in home daycare, but ultimately I was more comfortable with a daycare setting at this point. After much research she now is on the waiting list for a brand new daycare that is just down the street from our new house. Not only is it conveniently located for us, but it also has an exciting curriculum for infants as young at 6 weeks. The facility is called Little Sunshines's Playhouse and Preschool and it is a franchise located in the states of Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. Although it is going to be very hard to leave her in someone elses' care, it will be nice to know she is in a wonderful and safe social environment and until then I am going to enjoy my last 4 months of this pregnancy and a wonderful first 5 months of her life while at home and not working....
