A proud moment

Friday was a first for this mama. Being a teacher for 10 years I have always been on the other side of parent teacher conferences. That has all changed and WOW it felt weird to be waiting in the hallway instead of being inside talking to my students parents. On Friday November 9th at 9:45 I had my first meeting with Avery's preschool teacher, Mrs. Boyer.  Let's just say I am one proud mama and her daddy, who wished  he could be there, was proud of his little girl.

Mrs. Boyer started the conversation saying that Avery as a very sweet little girl.  She is very attentive, follows directions well, a social butterfly and a leader. These are all words that were used to describe her.  I was told her favorite center was the library center and she loved sitting and reading books everyday, along with a love for housekeeping center(which the babies are located in:)), she is a good friend(never has had another student complain about her doing negative things), she is friends with everyone but her best buddy is Jessica, who we are friends with outside of the classroom.  She often plays with just the girls in the room and will include new students in the group.  How proud are we??? Mrs. Boyer continued to say she comes in the classroom everyday with a big smile on her face enthusiastic to start the day and leaves with a huge smile on her face.  She is happy and loves school and for this mama that is what I want to hear.

So happy that St. James has been so successful so far. Keep up the great  work Avery Grace, we love you!

Halloween Fun

Well it was another great year of Trick or Treating and celebrating Halloween. Avery was at such a great age for it this year and was very excited to get out there and go to each house. I was amazed. She always amazes me, but she literally walked up to houses for 1 1/2 hours and said "trick or treat" and "thank you" to every single person. She was so polite and not shy in the least and would grab one piece for herself and one for her little brother who didn't make it up to the door in time, every time.
Avery chose her costume this year and wanted to be Snow White. It was perfect for her.  I was amazed that almost every girl in her preschool classroom as well as dance class was some kind of princess.  Tis the age for a princess! Kellan was a dragon and practiced with daddy growling like one. He was adorable in the costume and was lucky because he had a very warm one this year for the weather.  The first several houses he wanted nothing to do with it and would not walk up but once he started figuring out that he got candy he sure enough kept up with the best of  them.  He insisted on walking(no surprise) the entire time too.  And every time he got a piece of candy he would say "open". I think he ate 1/2 his candy while in route. So below are a bunch of pics of the celebration.  Hope you enjoy! Happy Halloween!

Pre-Halloween fun

Here are a few pictures before all the Halloween trick or treating begins tomorrow. Avery went to school today dressed up for her classroom party and was so excited. She even asked for the "poison" apple for breakfast.
We carved our pumpkins on Saturday and even got creative with our small ones and last but not least little brother made the blog today with his orange covered face from his Halloween cupcake:)
More pictures to come tomorrow.....

Halloween dance class

Avery had a Halloween dance class on Wednesday and she got to dress in costume and they put on a little show for the parents. She was so excited and was actually not shy at all to get up and tap in front of an audience. She followed directions well and listened to her teacher. It was very sweet.  Here are a few pictures of her performance:)

I love this picture because Kellan kept walking up to Avery while she was dancing and wanting to be with her.  They are going to be great friends!
