Daddy has been hard at work!

This past week, daddy has taken on two new projects for baby Sherman. Earlier in the week he put together her swing. Thank you Aunt Jean for the swing. It is all ready to go and we know she is going to love it! Mommy loves all the music it plays and how comfy it looks.
Next up was the stroller. We decided that we would switch it over to the bassinet since that is what she will be using for the first month or so of her life(other than her car seat and snap n go). This was one of the first purchases that mommy made when we found out we were expecting. It has been in storage for quite some time and when we got it out we discovered it wasn't orange and black as we remembered but actually orange and navy blue! Go Illinois!!!! We will be sure to bring it for her 1st Illinois game in October!

The size of a grown-up duck?

That's what I just read about the size of babies at this point in the pregnancy. What a weird comparison I thought but I am going with it... Baby Sherman could now keep up with the best of the duck families out there I suppose...I am now wondering if the duck reference is more appropriate to describe the way I am walking these days.. hummmm...
Today I went in for my regular appointment with Dr. Hannah and all looked great. It was a quick appointment because as of now, I have no questions or complaints which I guess is a good thing. Actually I did have a complaint... Why the 95-100 degree weather while I am 8 months pregnant? It has been crazy here but Geoff assures me we are in for a cool down next week, only in the upper 80s.. Great I say:)...
Baby Sherman is continuing to grow like a weed as the doctor felt around and estimated her to be about 4 1/2 pounds which explains why I am feeling her body parts all over my belly these days. She will actually push back when I apply pressure to a certain spot at times. We may have a feisty one! The first time that Geoff felt this happen he jumped back and I honestly think gave a little yelp(although I am sure he will not admit it). He thought it was really weird. Another reason to add to my list of why women are the much more suitable sex to have the baby.
Well that is about it.... I will go back to the Doctor's in two weeks and then after that it will be every week until she makes her appearance. Our next appointment is on July 7th which will be our 2 year anniversary. What a wonderful way to be celebrating this year with the excitement and anticipation of knowing we are bringing a new life into this world very soon!

A whole lot of nesting going on....

It all started on Tuesday June 16th when mommy and daddy went over their lunch break to take a Baptism class so that Baby Sherman could be baptized in Springfield this fall. After a very painless 30 minutes, we were granted permission to Baptize her on October 11, 2009 at Blessed Sacrament, the same church that mommy and daddy got married in almost 2 years ago!

Then mommy moved over to the washing... notice it is a sea of pink bedding and blankets...

Next up? The bassinet that Meme and Papa bought for us.... I decided that all the fabric on the bassinet needed washing so one night I stripped it down only to discover that I had no idea how to put it back together and we had no directions... So I asked daddy last night if he would help me out and work his magic on it while I was out to dinner with a friend. Well the ever so patient daddy did work his magic on it but it took him over 2 hours to do:( and he was a bit frustrated with it(at least that is what Trixie said as she observed). But on the brighter side it is now ready to go and is set up in mommy and daddy's room.

Last for now........ was the new Pack-n-Play that we got over the weekend. Mommy had to set it all up and make sure it was good to go and easy to assemble! Looking pretty good I think! Notice the quilt on it? This was a gift from a friend of ours that just got a sewing machine and decided to take up a hobby! So cute! Thank you AJ! Baby Sherman will love it!

Well who knows what it will be next..?? But I guarentee it will be something very soon because the mommy mode has taken over and is ready for more.....

55 days to go......(give or take a few)

Well I figured it had been awhile since I updated so I thought I would fill you in on all the adventures of Baby Sherman. She has just finished up her last and final plane ride until December when we go to Florida. Yes I mean she still is inside my belly but she flew this past weekend to Washington D.C. for a work trip with mommy and had some catching up to do with mommy's old friends. Mommy got to see lots of friends some of which it had been 6 years since a reunion. It was wonderful to catch up but we are happy to be back at home with daddy and home for awhile now since mommy is done traveling the friendly skies until after the birth.

Baby Sherman is 32 weeks which means if you do the math we have 55 days left until mommy's due date. WOW! It will be here before you know it and sometimes it is scary to think about because we realize our lives will never be the same after our monkey arrives. Mommy has hit the full on 'nesting' stage as she often goes up to the nursery just to look around and bask in the excitement of what is about to happen in the next 8 weeks.

The nursery is the next thing we are going to tackle. I hope to have it complete in the next several weeks. Lots of washing to do and assembling baby gear.

We are also getting ready to take a Baptism Class today at our church so that Baby Sherman will be able to go back to Springfield this fall and get baptized in the church that mommy grew up in and mommy and daddy got married in. So today we will be taking a 40 minute class over our lunch break. We are getting all of our ducks in a row I guess you could say! Mommy has always been a planner so she doesn't like to wait until the last minute to do anything!

Well that is about it! Our next doctors appointment is on Wednesday the 24th and Mommy has been feeling me move around A LOT lately. The movement is constant now(all day long) and very forceful at times!!

We are in love!

Today Geoff and I went in for my 30 week doctors appointment this morning. In addition to all the routine procedures we also had another ultrasound to check on growth and make sure everything was looking good. The doctor said our little girl was just perfect. And yes she was still a little girl...Mommy was worried that she was in knee deep with pink clothes and there was a slight chance it was a boy. But nope we have the green light to wash all the bedding and start putting the room together. It will be pink and white gingham and chocolate brown for our little girl!

I think both mommy and daddy would agree we are completely in love already! I got the sweetest text from Geoff today that said "I am completely in love with her and can't wait for her to get here". It melted my heart and I think she may have daddy wrapped around her finger already:)

Baby Sherman measured right on for 30 weeks and she weighed in at 3 pounds and 4 ounces which is average. Her overall growth was at the 47th percentile!!

We were lucky enough to get few pictures of her while she was busy moving around in mommy's belly. Our favorite is the one I have posted where she is smiling at us. She looks like a little person now. I think she is going to have her daddy's nose and some big bright eyes!!!

After the ultrasound the doctor covered some routine things with us. First was weight gain and what to expect. He said that Baby Sherman will double her weight between now and when she is born so we can expect to have a 7 pound baby. He also went on to say that he suspects that I will go all the way to my due date. So as we see it now, Baby Sherman will be born sometime between August 10th and August 17th because he will not let me go later than a week over my due date. SO exciting to think about for sure!!

Well that was about it. It has been a great day and one filled with lots of exciting news for sure. I go back to see the doctor in 3 weeks when I will be 33 weeks. Tick Tock.... Tick Tock..... It's time to start nesting......

A big thanks!!

Today I went into work and had a nice surprise waiting for me. One of my co-workers made Baby Sherman a BEAUTIFUL blanket. A big thanks to Patti for spending the time and quilting such a thoughtful gift and one that we will have for a long time!!! Baby Sherman will love it!
