I'm 1 week old today!

Daddy gives Avery her first bottle on her 1 week birthday.

It seems hard to believe that a week ago today we were in the hospital anxiously awaiting the arrival of Avery. The last week has been filled with a ton of emotions. Although mommy is not getting much sleep at night she is surviving because daddy (aka Mr. Mom) is taking care of all the chores around the house. He is doing a great job which really helps out when you are sleep deprived. But unfortunately daddy has to return to work tomorrow and we are sad about that. Avery has loved her morning walks with him and Trixie!!
In the last week we have been to a couple of doctors appointments and had friends over to the house to meet Avery. We are doing great and can't wait for Meme and Papa to come back at the end of the week to visit again!!
Today we went to the doctors and Avery weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces.

Avery's first bath

Last night, mommy and daddy gave Avery her first bath... Until her umbilical cord falls off we can only give her a sponge bath... She was not exactly sure she liked the idea of this and pretty much cried the entire time. Mommy was really fast at it while daddy took some video and pictures. Daddy has been such a big help these first couple of days... Our transition home has included last nights and early mornings but we think it is completely worth it for our little peanut....

Here comes the noise!!! Avery has a set of lungs on her for sure... we should have known this as she came out of mommy's tummy screaming... We think she looks like her daddy but may have a little bit of her mommy's 'spicy' personality

She even has her own personal towel but that was only comforting for so long.

Ahhhhhhhh.............Thank goodness that is over....She has asked us to maybe pick a different Friday night activity for her next week.... she says that "popcorn and a movie will do".

Day 4......

You can never have enough pictures of something so sweet and cute!

Mommy, daddy and Avery and are doing great and getting adjusted to life at home. It seems hard to believe that she is already 4 days old today. We are just figuring out our schedule and we even have been going for some walks to get some sunshine and fresh air. We are loving every minute with our sweet little girl. Today we went to the doctor for her newborn check-up and we were happy to hear that everything is looking good. She has lost some weight which is very normal and now weighs 7 pounds and 1 ounce. She should start gaining weight from here on out. She is just a little peanut for sure. So perfect!!!!

So sweet! This is the position she was in on the ultrasound at 35 weeks.... She loves her hands and moves them around a lot!

Here I am going home from the hospital on August 12th. I had my new outfit on that mommy got me at Gymboree!

Now the hard part begins... It is just mommy, daddy and Avery!

Bright eyes!

Trying out my bouncer from Grandma and Grandpa Sherman.

Baby Sherman will be here on August 10th!

Today we went in for our weekly appointment and were both very excited because we knew at this point some decisions were going to be made. We went in and all looked great. I asked Dr. Hannah to feel around and guess how much Baby Sherman was weighing in at these days and his guess was about 7 pounds 4 ounces. WOW! Bigger than we anticipated 5 weeks ago. He said she is fully cooked and ready to go!! Now only if mommy's body was ready. I had made some more progress and am now at 2.5 centimeters and still about 80% thinned out... He went ahead and stretched my cervix which was quite painful but something they do to speed the process along. Some women will go into labor within 48 hours of this!! So Baby Sherman could be here this weekend but if not, we have an induction scheduled for Monday August 10th at 5:00am(ouch). He predicts I will have a fairly easy labor lasting about 12 hours. We are SOOOOOOO excited that she will be here by her due date( her mommy came on her exact due date as well and was born on a Monday too). So we plan on enjoying our last weekend together and preparing to be a mommy and daddy next week!! YAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep you all posted!

A nice surprise!

Keeping the name a secret has proven to drive others crazy.. Everyone at work is dying to know her name and they try and get me to 'slip' everyday:) Here is one of the cards from the gift..
Baby Sherman's 1st teddy bear..

Adorable outfit.... she is going to be well dressed!
Cutting the yummy chocolate cake...

Today I had another great surprise come my way.. This time at work.. Some of the ladies had a surprise shower for Baby Sherman and I this afternoon. It was so nice and thoughtful and Baby Sherman got a ton of cute new clothes, a teddy bear, a bather, diapers, a rattle and burp clothes.

Wow I feel so blessed and now that the shower is over.. I think it is time for this baby to arrive:) We topped off the day with some yummy chocolate and cherry cake. I am so spoiled and feel very fortunate to work with such great people! Thank you!!
